Looking forward to the weekend? Us too! We've set aside two easy going, yet interesting wines.

Haarmeyer Wine Cellars - St. Rey SRV Zinfandel 2019

Ripe blackberries, and hints of spice. Well structured, with a smooth texture. Fresh kick of acid on the finish.

Haarmeyer Wine Cellars is a family team - Craig, Alex, Kelly, and Marian Haarmeyer. Started in 2008 with fruit from a vineyard near the town of Galt, CA, Craig was interested primarily in making wines using Spanish and Portuguese varieties, mainly because of the dry climate and the proximity of this vineyard to his home and winery in Sacramento, CA. He felt the place seemed right for the numerous varieties of sun loving, hardy grapes planted there. This led him to consider other sites and he noticed how the wines could define and express the terroir of the region.
Soon he began using the phrase "Sacramento terroir" to describe his early efforts.
Bernard Vallette - Beaujolais Blanc 2017
Fresh and elegant Chardonnay. Floral and herbal notes.

From the deep south of Beaujolais in the village of Lachassagne, where the soils are clay and limestone as opposed to granite, Bernard Vallette is biodynamically farming 6.5ha of land passed down through his family from his grandparents. The grapes are all hand harvested and fermented with native yeasts using carbonic maceration and a comparatively lengthy aging in stainless steel. The resulting wines are charming and immensely drinkable in their youth, but also develop nicely with a few years of age. No additions in the cellar (including sugar) and just a touch of SO2 at bottling.
