Since 1700 our family grows wine in the romantic village of Nierstein-Schwabsburg, which belongs to the wine growing region Rheinhessen. Geisenheim oenologist Christine is responsible for the winemaking, together with her New Zealand born husband Jeremy Bird-Huff. Winegrower Ekkehard Huff takes care of the vineyards and the farm, his wife Doris attends to our customers. Christines and Jeremys daughters Philippa and Olivia as well as the dog Donna provide the entertainement. We manage 9 hectares of vineyards around Nierstein and Schwabsburg. Particularly important for the Riesling cultivation are the steep, red slopes by the Rhine river. These include the appellations Schloss Schwabsburg, Pettenthal and Orbel. The stony, red soil with its high mineral content gives the wines density and structure. Limestone as well as fertile loess and clay soils add on to the diversity, perfect for growing full-bodied pinots and charming aromatics like Scheurebe or Sauvignon blanc.
